Machines with intelligence have the potential to use their intelligence to make ethical decisions. Computationalism is the position in the philosophy of mind that the human mind is an information processing system and that thinking is a form of computing.   2. What all these different industries and use cases have in common, is that they are all data-driven. Since Artificial Intelligence is an efficient data processing system at its core, there’s a lot of potential for optimisation everywhere. 1956 – The “first artificial intelligence program” named “Logic Theorist” was constructed by Allen Newell and Herbert A. Simon. This program verified 38 of 52 mathematical theorems, as well as discovering new and more elegant proofs for several of them.
    Computer vision represents 49 percent of patent families related to a functional application in 2016. Professor Stephen Smith has started a company since then Surtrac that has installed smart traffic control systems in 22 cities. Drive time has been reduced by 25% and traffic jam waiting time has been reduced by 40% at the intersections it has been installed. In reinforcement learning the agent is rewarded for good responses and punished for bad ones. The agent classifies its responses to form a strategy for operating in its problem space.
    The complexity and rise of data in healthcare means that artificial intelligence will increasingly be applied within the field. Several types of AI are already being employed by payers and providers of care, and life sciences companies. The key categories of applications involve diagnosis and treatment recommendations, patient engagement and adherence, and administrative activities. Although there are many instances in which AI can perform healthcare tasks as well or better than humans, implementation factors will prevent large-scale automation of healthcare professional jobs for a considerable period.
    The ideal characteristic of artificial intelligence is its ability to rationalize and take actions that have the best chance of achieving a specific goal. A subset of artificial intelligence is machine learning , which refers to the concept that computer programs can automatically learn from and adapt to new data without being assisted by humans. Deep learning techniques enable this automatic learning through the absorption of huge amounts of unstructured data such as text, images, or video.
